    • The Flu Shot

      Why get the Flu Vaccine?

      • Prevents serious complications:
The flu can lead to complications like pneumonia, bronchitis, and even death, especially in high-risk groups.
      • Reduces risk of hospitalization:
The vaccine can lower the chances of needing to be admitted to the hospital due to flu.
      • Protects against severe illness:
Even if you get the flu after vaccination, the symptoms are often less severe and you recover faster.
      • Reduces spread of infection:
Vaccination protects not only you but also those around you, especially vulnerable individuals.
      • Protects against other illnesses:
Getting the flu vaccine can reduce the risk of co-infection with other respiratory viruses, like COVID-19, potentially worsening the illness.

Who should get the Flu Vaccine?

      • Everyone 6 months and older:
The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every season.
      • High-risk groups:
People with chronic diseases, older adults, pregnant women, and healthcare workers are particularly encouraged to get vaccinated.

When should you get the Flu Vaccine?

      • Ideally before the start of flu season:
Getting vaccinated before the flu season begins, which typically starts in the fall/ Autumn, provides the best protection.
      • Even during the flu season:
You can still get vaccinated during the flu season, and it will still be beneficial.
      • Every year:
The flu virus changes each year, so it's important to get vaccinated annually.

      Is the Flu Vaccine Safe?

      • Yes, the flu vaccine is safe: The CDC and other health organizations consider the flu vaccine safe and effective.
      • Side effects are generally mild: Common side effects include pain at the injection site, headache, and muscle aches.
      • Serious side effects are rare: Serious side effects like Guillain-Barré Syndrome are extremely rare.

    • What is Your Favorite Hot Drink, Smoothie and Milkshake?
Favourite hot drinks include Caffè Americano and the Cappuccino, fave smoothies include Berry Dairy, C-Breeze, the Peanut Butter Bomb, the Strawberry Stinger. Milkshakes? Quite a few including the Chocolate Hazelnut milkshake. What about you? Following a hard workout in winter the hot Cappuccino goes down really well. Venue-wise I particularly enjoy Virgin Active Bedfordview - after a great workout, sit, relax and enjoy a great cappuccino. Not so long ago, I had a large Kauai 'Peanut Butter Bomb' smoothie at Virgin Active Eastgate which was phenomenal. Cappuccinos at Mugg and Bean, Bedford Centre are excellent. Highly recommended. The cappuccino at 'Vida e Caffè', Discovery Place , Sandton was excellent also. For smoothies I recommend the Chocolate Factory in Bedforview. One of my fave milkshakes has to be: the Chocolate Hazelnut milkshake. Cheers everyone!
