Intro
Indoor rowing is one of the most effective full-body workouts available, and training on a Concept2 rowing machine offers exceptional benefits for both physical and mental health. Rowing improves cardiovascular fitness, builds strength and endurance, and engages nearly every major muscle group. At the same time, the rhythmic, repetitive motion of rowing can help reduce stress, improve focus, and support overall mental wellbeing — making it an ideal activity for both body and mind.

If you are looking for motivation, structure, and a sense of achievement, participating in a rowing challenge can be a powerful way to stay consistent. Each May, Concept2 hosts a number of global challenges designed to encourage activity, promote wellbeing, and test endurance.

Below are two of the most popular Concept2 rowing challenges in May.
1. Mindful May Meters Challenge (May 1 – 31)
The Mindful May Meters Challenge focuses on consistency and wellbeing. It encourages participants to stay active throughout the month while supporting an important cause.
May is recognised as Mental Health Awareness Month (May in the United States and Europe and in October in South Africa), and this challenge highlights the positive impact that regular physical activity can have on mental health.
Participants are encouraged to:
- Row, ski, or ride at least 1,000 meters per day
- Stay active on as many days as possible during May
- Aim for one of three achievement levels.
As an added incentive, Concept2 donates money to charity based on the level you reach. Participation is free, making this an accessible and meaningful challenge for everyone.
