Cyber Monday - What to Look For

Cyber Monday – What to Look For

Cyber Monday exploded globally and currently is one of the largest online shopping days in the world, often larger than Black Friday in total e-commerce sales. What to look for on Cyber Monday in order for you to get the best deals without the overwhelm.

How did it all began?

In 2005 Ellen Davis and the U.S. National Retail Federation (NRF) created Cyber Monday. Reason: Retailers noticed a big spike in online shopping the Monday after Thanksgiving. Many people returned to work after the holiday weekend and used their office’s faster internet to shop online (broadband at home wasn’t common at that stage).

Why It Worked

Online shopping was growing, but not yet mainstream, retailers wanted their own “Black Friday” for e-commerce and consumers liked avoiding crowds, the convenience of online buying and the extra discounts after missing Black Friday.
