Intro – 60150 Vitality Points Today
I have been on ‘Diamond’ status for the past 2 months and today I reached 60150 points🙂🙂. The key is to try and get 300 Vitality points every time you do a workout. And it is ‘doable’. Just 31 minutes and you will get your 300 Vitality points. Refer below.
You don’t have to be a member of a gym to be rewarded with Vitality points. You can get Vitality points with exercises you do at home, in your garden, in the park, at a gym…basically anywhere.
If you happen to be a member of Virgin Active and attend gym a minimum of twice a week you will also get a freebie such as a cappuccino or a healthy smoothie. This applies to Vitality South Africa. Vitality is now available in the UK, various European countries and in the United States and Canada. I assume Vitality in those countries will work basically the same.
I try to get 300 Vitality Points on every Workout
I train on average 5 times a week: 3 sessions/ week at home (31 mins/ session) and gym training twice a week (about 90 minutes/ session). Twice a month I have a group walk (90+ mins/ walk). I try to get 300 Vitality points every time I train.
Where else can you get Vitality Points?
I also got Vitality Points on the following:
- 22 500 points – on the Vitality Health Check.
- 7500 points – Voluntary counselling and testing for HIV (you have to be HIV negative plus attend a super short Counselling talk to get the full 7500 points).
- 2 000 – flu vaccination.
- I go shopping once a week. My Garmin records the steps and I end up with 100 points for the ‘shopping session’.
Workouts where Anyone can easily get 300 Vitality Points
Most of my workouts last between 30 mins and 1 hour. A 12 km group walk will last approx 3 hours. One can basically convert most workouts into 80%+ of your max. Heart Rate. Below some of the exercises where I’ve earned 300 Vitality points:
- Elliptical.
- Stepper.
- Cycling.
- Skipping rope.
- Rowing (on the water or on a rowing machine) – there is nothing better to get your HR really pumping at 90%+ max.
- HIIT (Pushups, pullups, air squats, climbing stairs, burpees, etc… etc…). You can convert almost any exercise into a HIIT workout.
- Strength/ Weight Training – yes, doing weights can increase your HR provided you only have a short rest time between the sets.
- Walking at a fast pace/ Running – you will get 300 points in 31 minutes.
- Gardening (surprise, surprise – pottering and moving pots around the garden) – it must be 90+ mins with basically no rest time.

And a Free Cappuccino
I have bragged enough about the free cappuccinos I get every time I visit Virgin Active. Another one I enjoyed this afternoon. Cheers😋
