Better Bedfordview – Keeping Bedfordview Beautiful

Intro

You will be forgiven if when driving in Bedfordview you think you are not in South Africa. The streets are clean, no litter piling up on street corners, there are no potholes (or if they exist they get repaired fairly quickly), curb-sides are painted, the schools, hospitals, shopping malls and gyms are super clean and the traffic lights actually work. Are you in a different country?

Cape Town has a reputation for being a well-managed city with strong service delivery. By contrast Municipalities across South Africa deliver poor services or no services at all. At the time of writing the area we live in has been without water for the past 4 days and counting… Generally, Municipalities in Johannesburg and elsewhere are characterised by decay due to poor maintenance.

Better Bedfordview decided to help with some of the services that their Municipality has failed to provide. Better Bedfordview is run by a committed group of community volunteers each of them with demanding day jobs and busy lives just like you and me.

Making Bedfordview Better

• Do you want a clean, neat, well-maintained suburb?
• Do you want to protect and grow the value of your property?
• Do you want facilities you can enjoy and infrastructure that works?
• Do you want to be part of a collaborative community initiative that gives residents and ratepayers a powerful united voice to demand better service, greater accountability, and transparency from the municipality?

Better Bedfordview is a registered, apolitical, non-profit organisation formed by the community, for the community. With funding from residents and businesses, we are cleaning up, restoring and maintaining Bedfordview. We are making it a suburb that we can all safely and happily enjoy and be proud of.
