You don’t have to go to gym and you don’t have to be a member of a gym to get freebies such as hot drinks because you can get these same freebies on Vitality. But should you also be a member of a gym such as Virgin Active or Planet Fitness, from an ‘instant rewards’ perspective even better for you because you will be accumulating points and rewards on both apps.
Keep in mind that the rewards you get on the Virgin Active App are separate from rewards you get on Discovery Vitality. You get rewards on each of the Apps. Depending how often you train you might end up getting more rewards on say the ‘Discovery’ App than on the ‘Virgin Active’ App.
Check your ‘Goal’ on your Discovery app or Discovery Bank app. Vitality will automatically set a goal for you depending on past activity you have had. If the goal is for example 900 points per week then once you achieve your goal (900 points) you will get an instant reward.

Depending on your past training, Discovery will set a goal/ a target for you. In my particular case I have to achieve 900 points in a week.

The a.m. images are from my Discover Bank App.
On 14th Sept I got 300 points, on the 15th Sept I got another 300 points and today the 16th Sept I also got 300 points. Total: 900 points. This entitles me to a freebie/ hot drink at any of the following:
- Kauai
- Mugg and Bean
- Vida e Caffè.
When I go shopping I do not set my Garmin watch to any particular exercise but Garmin (on its own) records every step I take and this translates into 50, 100 or even 100 Vitality points which is good news.
Whenever I train, I always try to get 300 Vitality points per workout. On an average week, I train twice at home, twice at the gym and once a week I go for a long walk. I get 300 points on the following workouts:
AT HOME
30+ minutes on HIIT weight training (pushups, squats, farmer’s walk, skipping rope, etc…)
IN THE GYM (any of the following will give me 300 points):
- 30+ minutes indoor rowing or
- 30+ minutes indoor cycling
- 30+ minutes elliptical or
- 30+ minutes stepper.
WALKING/ RUCKING/ JOGGING/ GARDENING (any of the following will give me 300 points)
- 30+ minutes jogging or
- 90+ minutes walking or rucking
- 90+ minutes gardening.
Thus in 3 days I reach my target of 900 vitality points.
Note: the training does not have to be on 3 consecutive days for me to be rewarded with a freebie – I have to reach the 900 points in a 7 day period. How I do that is up to me.
My Discovery Bank App is syncing with my Discovery App. There is a bit more detail on the Discovery Bank App when compared to the info displayed on the Discovery App.
I just would like to mention that last time I redeemed a small cappuccino at Mugg and Bean at Bedford Centre the lady informed me that instead of a small cappuccino I could have a large one at no cost. Wow, it was indeed large and delicious😋😋
Instead of having a hot drink you also have the option to contribute to provide and install wheelchair ramps at classrooms to help create inclusive learning environments.
Trust the a.m. is useful to you.
