We enjoyed a lovely 5km walk and run at Rhodes Park in Kensington, Johannesburg, this morning.
After years of neglect and deterioration, the park has benefited from clean-up and restoration efforts by volunteer organisations such as Better Kensington and Jeppe High School for Boys. There is still work to be done, and although the park is enjoyable for walking, runners should watch their footing as some sections of the ground are uneven.
Thank you to Bridgette, Esther, Jill and Lara for joining us this morning. I’ll make better use of my camera next time!
Kevin Mark Pass organises these walks and runs every Saturday at 8:00 am. Our Hikes, Walks & Fitness group plans to join the Rhodes Park event on the third Saturday of every month. You’re most welcome to join us!
A big thank you to Kevin and his team for their excellent work in Kensington and for bringing the community together.
After the walk and run, some of us headed to Pastelaria Princesa (Queen Street, Kensington) for brunch. The recently opened swimming pool and braai area are wonderful additions. With its beautifully maintained pool, immaculate lawns and inviting braai facilities, it is a lovely place to meet friends and socialise. Congratulations to Paula and her team on creating such a welcoming space!
I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious cappuccino, my prego no pão, and the company of Bridgette and Esther. A lovely way to round off the morning!
