We make a big deal of it because, on average, it only snows in Johannesburg once every 10 years😁🎈🥳❄🌨⛄. The city is at an altitude of 1750 meters (5742 ft) above sea level. Johannesburg has dry winters and even though the temperature at night can drop to below freezing there isn’t enough moisture for snow. The climate of Johannesburg is characterised by dry, cold winters and hot summers with some rain. In winter the nights are cold but the days are sunny and around 20C (68F). So… it snowed today👏🎈❄🧊🥶. From our house we could hear students singing at Jeppe High School for Boys – they are loving it🎶🎶
