Intro – The Bedfordview Kensington Heritage Walk – 2023 June 25
It is winter but we enjoyed a lovely sunny day. Thanks to all who participated.
Congratulations to Claudia and Teresa (and to everyone in their group) for having completed the 200 Km CAMINO walk between Porto (Portugal) and Santiago de Compostela (Spain). What a feat👏👏. Looking forward to listen to their amazing journey and seeing some of the photos.
We were honoured having two Alumni of Jeppe High School for Girls viz Ana an Lilian. Jeppe High School for Girls, a top model C school in South Africa has been achieving 100% pass rate in Matric for a number of years.👍👌
We stopped outside the gate of the Tibetan Buddhist Temple – Kagyu Samye Dzong Johannesburg – Buddhist Centre (Dix House 1904 – 1906) We were excited to learn that the Buddhist Temple will undergo major renovations and extensions. Congratulations👏👏
Brian broke his ankle in a freak accident a few days ago but he joined us at brunch today. Thanks Brian and a speedy recovery. Talking about the brunch… the company could not have been better, very tasty cappuccino and milk tart but the chicken livers could have been better. In my humble opinion and without offending anyone, only the Portuguese know how to prepare chicken livers the correct way🙂😋
Worth Mentioning…
It is worth mentioning that:
- In these walks and hikes you meet friends and you make new ones.
- Kensington is a Buyer’s Paradise – large, affordable homes, good schools (private and public), tree lined streets, friendly people, a lovely suburb.
As one walks through the suburb it is encouraging to see how individuals and companies are renovating their properties and in so doing, increasing the value of their properties as well as the value of adjacent properties. Conversely the owners who do not care to even paint their walls decrease the market value of all the properties in the street they are in👎.
