Jeppe High School for Boys (photo above): Named after Julius Jeppe who donated the grounds to the school. Jeppe Boys built in 1909 (following the Anglo-Boer War) and later Jeppe Girls were both designed by renowned British Architect Sir Herbert Baker who left architectural jewels in South Africa and India including the Union Buildings in Pretoria, St. George’s Cathedral (Cape Town), The Sansad Bhavan (Parliament of India) and the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Prime Minister J.C. Smuts unveiled the First World War Monument at the school in 1926.
