Intro

If you celebrate Religious Events a Happy Easter, Passover and Ramadan to you and to your Family.

Glorious weather this morning in fact the entire week. Very mild and pleasant for autumn… may it continue as I am certain nobody is in a hurry for winter.

We were a bit thin on Hosts and Maggie was thrown into the deep end…well, she did a fantastic job. Thanks Maggie for hosting the 11K and David, thank you for co-hosting the 15K with me.

Congratulations to young Noah. He did the 11K last Sunday and upgraded to the 15K today. Congratulations to everyone who completed both hikes😎🥾🌳🌻👏👍👌

Today I was not going to take any photos because publishing a blog post takes time and I need that time to launch a Survey on Hiking (you will be notified of the Survey soon). The thing is… there were so many pretty wildflowers along the trails – they had to go on record.

Thank you to Maggie and to Tony for the photos. Maggie, you got some amazing shots particularly the one of the zebras.

Stats

So much fun. You burnt 1000 calories on the 11K and 1339 on the 15K (14.72K) Well done everyone!

Our Next Walk and Hike

Join us on Sunday 7th May for the 11K Hike or 15K Hike: a good workout, in great company and in beautiful surrounds!

Date

Sunday, 7th May 2023

The JCP Entrance

We have been using the new JCP Entrance Precinct in the South of the Reserve for quite a while: -26.303725, 28.010931 (traveling up Peggy Vera Road, the new precinct entrance is immediately after the Klipriviersberg Recreation Centre on the right) – directions below.

What to Bring and Where We Meet

What to bring: Water (1L to 2L) and something to eat, a hat, sunblock, good shoes – and a camera to record the occasion! A degree of fitness will enable you to enjoy the hike or the walk.

This is a great workout (you will burn 1,500 calories on the 15 K hike and about 1,000 on the 11 K hike), in great company and in beautiful surrounds. You will also get a good dose of Vitamin D.

We start and end the walk and hikes at the South entrance to Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve on Peggy Vera Road (NOT the North entrance to the Nature Reserve).

As you drive up on Peggy Vera Rd the best is to look for Klipriviersberg Recreation Center (on the right). The entrance to the Nature Reserve is the next one also on the right.

Go through security and park your vehicle – should the parking area be full, you will have to park on the lawn area outside. After parking, walk towards the lappa type area. On the other side of the lappa you will see a patch of grass, a small pond and a small bridge with a big steel gate as well as toilet facilities. The meeting area is between the lappa and the pond.

Please note: We would love to have your company but… please DO NOT attend if you are with COVID or if you have had COVID in the past 7 days or have been in contact with a person with COVID in the past 7 days. Thank you very much for your understanding.
