A Happy Easter🐥🍫. A cool morning, a good workout (12.17 km, 16,204 steps, 891 calories) and as always a quick dip into history. Thank you to all who participated. A warm welcome to all those who joined us for the 1st time and a special welcome also to our visitors from abroad viz. Catherine, Emi and Jessica from Germany, Japan and the Netherlands resp. Thank you to Joel and Sylvia for co-hosting and thank you to Mandi Greene for allowing us access to the gardens at the Buddhist Centre.

I did get 300 Vitality points on this walk. Most of us stayed on for an enjoyable brunch and social at Fournos. I then went to the gym and got a free cappuccino. I receive a free hot drink or smoothie on every visit to Virgin Active. For all of you on Vitality, check your points guys and gals.

	Dykeneuk (Stone House)	Architect: Sir Herbert Baker (1904).
	Dix House (Tibetan Buddhist Centre)	Built by C.W. Dix (1904).
	Jeppe High School for Boys	Architect: Sir Herbert Baker (1909). The school was named after Julius Jeppe who donated the grounds to the school.
	World War I Monument	Prime Minister Jan C. Smuts unveiled the World War I Monument at the school.
	Scottish Horse Memorial	Erected in memory of men who died during the South African Anglo-Boer War in 1901 – 1902.
	Kensington Castle	Built by Samuel Scott Wilson in 1911. This is a replica of the Rothesay-on-Bute Castle in Scotland

We are in for a treat on upcoming walks as the ‘Jeppe Pipe Band’ practices at Jeppe Boys every Sunday 08:00-09:00 until July 2024. Not to be missed!

It is worth mentioning that:

1. In these walks and hikes you meet friends and you make new ones.
2. Kensington is a Buyer’s Paradise – large, affordable homes, good schools (private and public), the nearby shopping malls of Bedford Centre, Park Meadows and Eastgate, tree lined streets, friendly people, a lovely suburb. It is most enjoyable to walk, run and/ or cycle in many parts of Kensington.

As one walks through the suburb it is encouraging to see how individuals and companies are renovating their properties and in so doing, increasing the value of their properties as well as the value of adjacent properties👍👌👏. Conversely the owners who do not care to even paint their walls decrease the market value of all the properties in the street they are in👎.
