Intro – The Bedfordview Kensington Heritage Walk – 2023 Nov 26

A pleasant sunny day with a light breeze early in the morning but it warmed up later. We did a 12K walk and burnt 1094 calories👏👍👌 Thanks to those who participated and a big thank you to Mandi Green for allowing our group to visit the Buddhist Centre (Kagyu Samye Dzong Johannesburg – Buddhist Centre). A new shrine is being built and it is due for completion mid 2024. Lovely views of Johannesburg’s CBD (Central Business District) and Bez Valley below. A most enjoyable brunch and social followed at Fournos, Bedford Centre.

Join us on a hike this Sunday at Klipriviersberg (2 options available viz. the 11K and the 15K) and join us next week Sunday on the 6K ‘Rucking Yomping’ in Bedfordview.

Worth Mentioning…

It is worth mentioning that:

  1. In these walks and hikes you meet friends and you make new ones.
  2. Kensington is a Buyer’s Paradise – large, affordable homes, good schools (private and public), the nearby shopping malls of Bedford Centre, Park Meadows and Eastgate, tree lined streets, friendly people, a lovely suburb. It is most enjoyable to walk, run and/ or cycle in many parts of Kensington.

As one walks through the suburb it is encouraging to see how individuals and companies are renovating their properties and in so doing, increasing the value of their properties as well as the value of adjacent properties👍👌👏. Conversely the owners who do not care to even paint their walls decrease the market value of all the properties in the street they are in👎.
