Intro – The Bedfordview Kensington Heritage Walk – 2024 Jan 28
There was a huge thunderstorm last night with a heavy downpour but we had the most beautiful blue skies when we started the walk this morning. Thanks to all who participated and thank you to Erik and Sylvia for co-hosting. It is always great meeting friends and making new ones. A few of us stayed for a most enjoyable brunch and social. Best wishes to Sam who is relocating to Cape Town. Arguably a beautiful city and very civilized… but with dreadful weather – I mean 4 seasons in one day? Oh boy, I hope Capetonians are not reading this…
Today we did the same route we always do but at a faster pace thus reducing total time by almost an hour.
Following the walk I went for a gym session. Affterwards I enjoyed a cappuccino courtesy of Virgin Active and Vitality. The 4th in 2 weeks☕☕

Worth Mentioning…
It is worth mentioning that:
- In these walks and hikes you meet friends and you make new ones.
- Kensington is a Buyer’s Paradise – large, affordable homes, good schools (private and public), the nearby shopping malls of Bedford Centre, Park Meadows and Eastgate, tree lined streets, friendly people, a lovely suburb. It is most enjoyable to walk, run and/ or cycle in many parts of Kensington.
As one walks through the suburb it is encouraging to see how individuals and companies are renovating their properties and in so doing, increasing the value of their properties as well as the value of adjacent properties👍👌👏. Conversely the owners who do not care to even paint their walls decrease the market value of all the properties in the street they are in👎.
